New identity proposal for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the world's most innovative and forward thinking musical organization. As they look to their next 100 years, LA Phil needed an identity as vibrant and eclectic as the city it calls home. The client needed a flexible and dynamic system to better serve all of the organization’s needs, from performances at their two iconic venues, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, to their community initiatives such as YOLA, and beyond.

From its colorful neighborhoods—each with their own distinct personalities—to the sundry population of people from across the globe, LA is a veritable fusion of personalities. My objective was to create a logo as diverse and flavorful as the city of Los Angeles. To achieve this, I designed six wordmarks from which to mix and match letterforms to create a modular logo system.
