Tandem Pictures is a majority women-owned and operated film studio producing independent films and branded content. Founded in 2010 with the goal to elevate women’s stories in independent film, they have championed diversity both in front of and behind the camera while setting the bar for sustainable practices. Their films have premiered at festivals such as Sundance and Tribeca and have sold to major distributors such as Netflix, Hulu and others.
The custom wordmark is informed by tandem circles, subtly nodding to the studio name. The repetition of arch shaped letterforms served as a starting point for the brand’s graphic language. The arch has been around as long as the art of storytelling, appearing in architecture and symbolism across cultures. It is through these thresholds which one may enter another space and time. Representing the idea of moving into new phases, seeing different perspectives and possibilities, the arch shape evokes a sensation of reverence.
